Apologies for the lateness of this update, as we have been looking into alternate room arrangements for this semester. This has taken longer than I would have liked, but seems to have paid off in the end.
So without further ado, I’d like to announce that WE HAVE A CLUB ROOM! Woooooooo~

The new room is located under the Student Association offices. There are a couple of ways to get there, for you older members, the room is located opposite where the Swamp Bar was. For everyone else, I recommend making your way to the Student Association and either following the conveniently place signs, or asking staff to point you in the right direction.

To celebrate the new room (and start of semester two…kind of…), we will be having another dinner outing at Sushi Bay Penrith at 6pm, after the Thursday Screening.

Next Sunday, it’ll be on for n00bs and pwners alike as we bring to you a fun day of gaming and a great way to chill out before the start of Semester 2: The Semestering.

Afterwards we’ll be heading out to dinner at Sushi Bay in Penrith!

Consoles likely to be making an appearance: xbox360, PS3, Wii and a plethora of DS’s. (If you have an extra controller for any of these systems please bring it along to ensure enough controllers for everyone.)

There will also be a Super Secret Prize Give Away, which will be announced on the day.

As some of you found out today, we’ve had some unexpected issues with venues and room bookings, as such here’s the amended screening details for this semester:

As you can see the only real change is that both screenings are now in the same room.

You can also join in with the community on our club’s forum. AnimeSydney is an affiliation of the five university anime clubs in Sydney. Be sure to keep an eye out as there are almost always events and outings being planned. It’s also a great way to get in contact with other university students in Sydney!

JAUWS also has an irc chatroom where we like to idle, hang out and sometimes discuss things of interest!

Membership cards will be given out at screenings only this year. So if you want all the awesome benefits of being a JAUWS member be sure to stop by.

Hi everyone!

Wow classes are just about over now! It’s a good feeling huh? Sadly this means this week is the final week of screenings for the semester. However fret not! There’s still plenty of fun to be had this week, with the last two screenings (Wednesday 3:-5:30 in P124 & Thursday 12-2 in VG05) and the club’s Annual General Meeting in the Swamp bar this Friday (November 2nd!) at 3pm. Be sure to be there to usher in our new executives!

Christmas is almost upon us and of course that means the 2007 AnimeSydney Christmas Party is near! That’s right all 5 of the uni anime clubs are at it again, combining their forces for the greater good, in order to throw (what we think will be) an awesome party!!

It’s all set to go down on Saturday, 1st of December at The Red Room, level 1 of the Bowlers’ Club (95-99 York St). Starting at 6pm and finishing up at 11pm! All are very welcome and tickets are bookable/purchasable online! Tickets are $30 for members and $35 for non-members. If you went to the Halloween Party you’ll be able to receive a further $5 off the price of your ticket!! Bonus!!

The night will include everyone’s favourite events including; Cosplay, Trivia and a heap more! There’ll also be a full dinner and desert. Mingle and meet up with fellow anime fans from all over Sydney!
Then to finish it all off and wind down from exams get on up and dance at the end-of-night dance party!!

There’s no better way to end uni for the year and kick off the summer holidays!

Ticket purchases/reservations are now open. Accepted payment methods are: Paypal, Netbanking, or contacting Travis at president@jauws.org or on the contact page. This week tix will also be available at both screenings and the AGM. Don’t miss out these chances to snag a ticket!

Don’t forget that there’ll be a Pre-Party Cosplay Photoshoot in Hyde Park at 2:30pm!

Even if you’re not interested in taking on responsibility for running the club next year, we do encourage you to turn up to the meeting in order to help choose what happens in 2008. After all this is your club.

Please try and make an effort to come. The future of JAUWS depends on it. Our club is the oldest Japanese animation focused university club in Sydney (and maybe NSW), it would be a shame to let it end here.

On a lighter note there’ll be free stickers available for all who attend the meeting.

We’re having a competition to design the coolest badges for the club to sell at Animania and Supanova this year!
What’s in it for you? The Winning entry will receive a badge made of their design, a print run of 24 badges (maybe 48 if it’s really good!), your choice of 5 of our other badges and a Tales from Earthsea poster!
Runner up will get a badge with their design and a choice of 3 of our other badges.
